Do You Have Faith of a Dog?

Is your faith as big as your God…!!!

While I was going through my daily devotions, I liked the way the author interpreted the story of the Canaanite woman who begs Jesus for mercy. In the course of conversation, Jesus likened her to a dog, an event described in Matthew 15:21-28 and Mark 7:24-30. Surprisingly she would pursue on and insist on the healing of her daughter. The description concludes  that she got the favor of GOD because her faith had been tested and she had passed.

Talking about the dog, I remember ...well on the same lines a dog in my lane the other day came along with me on an  evening walk and as I was leaning against a fencing  and looking low down into a steep open yard, where generally the waste of the locals is dumped. I called the dog up on the wall of the fence; it came running to me and jumped up. Though it was dark in the valley it suddenly spotted something in the bushes and it jumped passed me right down into the dark pit and landed in the valley. I was startled at it's sheer confidence and "FAITH"………… Oh My God..!!

I was completely taken back wondering how on earth did it do it! One particular quote of Gordon MacDonald flashed in my mind, which was sent to me by my dear pastor, "Having FAITH in God means having a calm and quiet heart in God, believing that He'll do the SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE."

Hebrews:11:1 tells us, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (KJV). The dog was neither afraid of the darkness nor the valley, it knew its way down and was very sure as it visualized a picture of itself safely down there and took that huge leap of faith. It suddenly dawned on me  how I lack faith even though I know who holds my future.

The incident that night with the dog was remarkable and helped me hold on to the faith that was in me. I told myself, “If the dog could then why can’t I, with so many promises to assure me that God is in control.”

Mark 9:23, And Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." It is for us to believe and leave the rest to Jesus who will do His will for His glory. The Canaanite woman, although she was humiliated, yet she did not let go because she knew only Jesus can and her persuasion brought about her fruit.

If a soul less, hopeless and worthless dog could take that leap by trusting in its own ability, you and I on the other side have a more valid, valuable and worthy reason to follow Jesus, because He paid it all and said, “I am more than enough for you, just believe and have faith as a mustard seed and you will see wonders.”

Friend, are you facing a Red Sea before you, or a mountain that seems impossible or a valley too deep and you feel you are in the middle of an ocean with no  hope and nowhere to go? You too might have been humiliated and hurt; the situation may look impossible, but I encourage you to  turn your eyes upon Jesus, shift your focus from the problem to the Problem solver.

Do you feel your problem is too big for God to solve? Then I think you need to examine your faith. "Is your faith as big as your GOD?" Don't limit God; He is the God of impossibilities. If the dog can do it, your GOD can do it for you according to your faith. Whatever you’re facing today, like King David, let's pray beyond our imagination, for we serve a God who makes a way where there seems to be no way .

My Help Comes from the Lord:

A Song of Ascents, Psalm 121:

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, he who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

FAITH.. FAITH.. FAITH..... ONLY FAITH..... CAN MOVE THE MOUNTAINS . . . . . ...................... HAPPY BELIEVING.
